YOUR PROBLEM IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM

Align Left

Your problem is not your problem:

You may think your problem is your problem, but your real problem is that you don’t know what your problem is.

Does that sound like a tongue twister? It isn’t meant to be. Let me clarify, your problem is your programming. From an early age we have been programmed according to the principles of this world. Performance-based acceptance. PBA.

If you were fortunate enough to be raised in a Christian home and taught the principle of God and was shown by example the ways of God and how to walk in love and forgiveness then you have been programmed, not brainwashed, and if you have continued to live this life then you shouldn’t have any major problems. However, there are no perfect families and since our programming began from the time we were born and approximately 80% of our personalities and character are developed by the time we are 5 or 6 years old, we may well have developed flaws or issues we are not even aware of now.

There are two ways for a Christian to walk in this world.

  1. According to the flesh.

A. This does not mean just doing bad things, it means that you are depending on yourself and your own abilities to met you needs apart from God

B. It means letting your mind and emotions rule in your life.

  1. In the Spirit.

A. This does not mean religious activity, it does mean allowing Jesus to live His life through you.

B. It means surrendering your will to God and trusting Him to provide for you.

3. The key concept here is the Christian life is not difficult to live, it’s impossible. Jesus Christ is the only one who ever really lived the Christian life. He is the only one who can live it today, and that is why we need Him to live through us.

Here are three basic points

A. Point 1: God is love. You were created by God to be loved unconditionally. Only God loves you unconditionally. Therefore you need God.

B. Point 2: God created laws or ways to govern the universe. All of His ways are good. (Refer to point l.)

C. Point 3: Each of us showed up on planet earth with the need to be loved. Instead of getting your need met God’s way, (refer to point 2) we have developed our own ways of getting our needs met. This is what the Bible calls ‘flesh’

D. Key concept—the cardinal sin of man is independence from God. Read the story of Adam I Genesis 3.

The human design: Spirit, soul and body. 1 Thess. 5:23

SPIRIT,

THIS IS HOW YOU COMMUNE WITH GOD

SOUL

THIS INCLUDES THE

MIND

WILL EMOTIONS

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BRAIN

AN ORGAN LIKE THE LIVER, LUNGS ETC,

Stores memories, sends messages to the mind. The mind then either reacts to the will or the emotional part of the soul.

BODY

OUR EARTH SUITS, HOW WE COMMUNE WITH PEOPLE

The spirit is that dimension of your being through with you relate to God. You are spirit, you have a soul, mind will and emotions, and you live in a body. And you have a brain. You brain is not your mind. It’s an organ, when your body dies, your brain is dead also. In fact, a person can be brain dead, and still have life in the body, even if it’s only on life support. But the brain is not your mind.

When we are born our spirit is dead to God, because of Adam. We inherit this condition from him. He was the first man to born again, but he was born from life to death, so that is why we must be born again, from death to life.

The soul this is from the same root word as psychology, and is our unique personality and comprised of three parts.

  1. The mind, this is your ‘thinker’. This is the part of you that analyzes data, like a computer, and makes recommendations to your will. The mind is the battleground; this is where satan attacks us with spirits of fear, doubt and worry, etc. The mind is the gateway to the spirit through the senses hearing, seeing, touch, smell, and speech. These input data to the mind, like software into a computer.
  2. The emotions, this is your ‘feeler’. The feeler responds to various stimuli and exerts influence on the will. This is where you experience your feelings, when you say “I feel sad” this is the emotional part of your soul.
  3. The will ultimately is where all decisions are made. It works like a light switch; it is either on or off. You don’t actually “make up your mind to do something” you make up your will. We are given free will from God, to choose Him or the world, we can’t have both, we can’t serve two masters, and He wants us to willing choose to love Him because He first loved us.
  4. The body this is our earth suit. This is where our spirits and souls live while we are on earth. It is our house. It is the vehicle through which we relate to other people and the environment.
  5. The brain is an organ of the body; it gathers, organizes and stores information as memories, some we recall, some we do not.
  6. We are spiritual beings with a soul; we live in a body. We are not a physical being with a spirit.

HOW THE FLESH IS PROGRAMMED

Both the mind and the emotions are quick to respond to stimuli, but the emotions are much slower to recover. For example, you see a rattlesnake in your path, your mind knows the danger and you emotions respond with fear. The adrenal kicks in; fight or flight is a most powerful emotion. However, after looking closer you realize it is not a rattlesnake, but a stick. You mind instantly understands and recovers, however the emotions are still in fight or flight mode. Eventually, the emotions will recover, but it may take a great while.

In this example, we can use the 1 though 10 scale. Seeing a rattlesnake would put my emotions on a scale of 10, being the highest. My mind would be around that, an 8 or a 9. Once I realized it was a stick, my mind would immediately return to 1, but my emotions would stay at 10 and gradually move to 9, 8. 7, and so on.

  1. When we are continually exposed to harmful stimuli our emotional scale can become ‘stuck’ high upon the scale. The saying, I feel like I have to walk on eggs around that person. Your emotions are continually high up on the scale and are never restored to 1.
  2. Abusive parents where you live in fear and dread can cause your emotions to get stuck.
  3. Abusive husbands or wives can cause your emotions to get stuck.
  4. Now in this type of situation, the brain, not your mind of reason, but your brain the storage center, continually receives this type of information and interacts with the mind, will and emotions in the same way. These programs become deeply ingrained in the brain.
  5. The brain then stores these programs, I have to perform well all the time to win approval and avoid punishment or criticisms.
    1. I have to be good enough to receive love.
    2. I have to be pretty enough to be accepted.
    3. I have to do everything right to be worthy.

These thoughts are deep in the brain, suppressed memories, and wrong data. Once we are born again, our spirits become new, our soul is to be renewed by the Word of God, we are to have the mind of Christ, we are to submit our will to the will of God, but what do we do about the brain and all those memories? Those programs are still at work in our flesh, remember, the brain is an organ and is our version of the flesh. This is where habits are formed; habits of feeling unworthy, habits of feeling unacceptable, unlovable. How do we deal with that?

This is our Egypt, you know the story, the Israelites cried so desperately to be free and after only three days of freedom they wanted to go back to Egypt. Not because they thought Egypt was so great, but it was familiar. Sometimes because of fear of the new walk, we will take the familiar over freedom, even when the familiar is bad.

A woman, who was abused by her father, will most likely marry a man just like him. And even though she may become free from this abusive husband, she will often marry another man who is also abusive. It’s a habit, it’s familiar, and it’s ingrained in her brain that she is so unworthy or unlovable that that is all she deserved. It’s her Egypt. She is not conscious of this attitude, but it’s there all the same.

If these feelings are not dealt with in a healthy manner they will express themselves in some form. Anxiety, Panic attacks, sickness in the body, ulcers, Fibromyalgia, socially unacceptable behavior, sleeping around, drunkenness, even to the extreme of violence and suicide or murder. There is no emotion that goes unexpressed!

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may Prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.

The soul: mind, will and emotions.

Prosper: Grow stronger, thrive, and undergo a transformation or a change of position or action.

You can see from this that our physical health, and our ability to grow up and to grow as Christians are directly related to our soul, which is our mind, will and emotions’ state of being. If our emotions are always high up on the scale, in a constant state of fight or flight mode, then our soul is not prospering.

THE ANSWER

Remember the emotions and feelings are a part of the autonomic nervous system, like blinking and breathing. We cannot control them; we can only direct them. We can control our blinking when we think about it, that is our minds, our thinker which makes suggestions to our will. With our mind we can tell our will not to blink or to wink, or to hold our breath. But that is an act of our will giving in to the suggestion of our mind.

The memories stored in our brain, the programming of our emotions and feelings, are the key. If there is unforgiveness or bitterness or hurt stored in there, they will manifest in some form, either in acting out in anger, or physically and socially.

THERE IS NO EMOTIONS THAT GOES UNEXPRESSED!!!!!!!!

When you take bitterness, anger, hurt and unforgiveness, it is like drinking poison and waiting for some one else to die.

The only thing we can do is to own them in order to disown them.

If someone has caused you hurt, anger or offense, you DO have a right to these emotions, and feelings. And you can acknowledge them. You can confront the person and not allow these feelings to be stuffed down inside to fester and later manifest in some unhealthy form.

You however must give up you right to continue feeling these things. To hold onto them is pride. To give them up and forgive is humility. God can’t help a prideful person, but HE gives grace to the humble, and HE will exalt you and even prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies.

Some of these feelings may be recent, they may be hurts from the past, and some may even be repressed memories. But they need to be dealt with and done away with whatever the case.

You do this by an act of your will and faith in God. You first have to acknowledge the hurt in whatever form it is, then say “I take this emotions and feelings, (then name them, is it fear, rage, shame, low self-esteem…) and I put them to death on the cross. Now Lord, give me a glorious opposite. In my weakness is Your Strength!

Matthew 11:27-29

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Mark 11:25

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Mark 11:26

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

We are to cast all our cares, hurt, upon Him, He is able to bear it, in fact He has already bore it for us.

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

Remember, we are in covenant with God. What He has belongs to us, and what we have belongs to Him.

Our pains, and weaknesses, our feelings of worthlessness, shame, and anger all belong to Him, He will exchange Grace, Comfort, Love, Wisdom, Purpose and Honor if we will release these negatives unto Him and receive His goodness from Him.

Sometimes it is very painful to look back over our lives and remember past hurts. But the only way to be rid of them, to re-program ourselves, is to bare the pain in order to receive the joy.

Unforgiveness is a cancer; it must be put to death on the cross. When we forgive we are not saying that person is innocent, or that what they did is OK. We are releasing ourselves from a relationship of hurt and pain. We are freeing ourselves of poison in our lives. We are turning them over to a Just God, who will Himself avenge us, and give us peace.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OFFEND A HUMBLE PERSON THEREFORE: Humble yourselves under the mighty Hand of God, and He will lift you up.

Be quick to forgive, walk in love, and cleanse yourselves of past hurts.

Whenever a negative thought comes to your mind, say “God, I thank You for taking care of that!” By saying this we do 3 things.

  1. We are saying Lord, I am trusting you to fight all of my battles, and I know You are mighty in battle.
  2. I take all the fight out of me and put it into the principalities. We wrestle not against flesh and blood….
  3. I am resisting the devil. I’m not rebuking him; I am simply ignoring him. Thank you Lord for taking care of that. I am casting my care to the One Who is able to bear it.

When we speak a negative word or comment out of our mouth, we are to say aloud, “Cancel!” By saying this we mean:

  1. I used to think that way
  2. I used to feel that way
  3. I used to be that way
  4. But I’m not anymore; I am healed and whole.

Here are some confessions you could say every night and every new day (Remember His Mercy is renewed every morning):

  1. I choose life, the abundant life in Christ
  2. I choose blessings, the Blessing of Abraham has come upon me and overtaken me.
  3. I walk in God’s Love
  4. I walk in God’s Joy
  5. I walk in God’s Peace
  6. I walk in God’s Glory
  7. I walk in God’s favor
  8. I walk in God’s strength
  9. I walk in God’s prosperity
  10. I walk in God’s courage
  11. I walk in God’s diving healing.

CLEANSING PRAYER

Father, I take the burdens of your child and I give them all to You. For Your burden is light and Your yoke is easy. Come Holy Spirit and cleanse my spirit, mind, soul and body from all defilement.

Father, hide me in the cleft of Your rock, under the shelter of Your winds, under the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I ask You to loose Your angels and surround me as You did in Sodom and Gomorrah, and blind the enemy so that they will not be able to see me or find an opening in me. I pray this in Jesus Holy Name. Amen.

God is our ever-present Help in time of trouble; He is faithful to His Word to perform it. He always leads us in victory; He always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. You are worthy because Jesus made you worthy. Your price: The blood of the only begotten Son of Almighty God, which made you a joint-heir with Jesus Himself. He calls you brother/sister. He calls you justified. He calls you friend. God loves you as much as He loves Jesus. See yourself the way He sees you and walk in it through His strength.

Sorrows and blessings

Two Boxes
(

God's Boxes

I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me.."

I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."

We should consider all of our friends a blessing.

Homeless man's funeral.

Country Funeral:

As a young minister, I was asked by a funeral director to hold a
grave-side service for a homeless man, with no family or friends. The
Funeral was to be held at a cemetery way back in the country, and this
man would be the first to be laid to rest there.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods area, I became lost; and being
a typical man did not stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour
late. I saw the backhoe and the crew, who was eating lunch, but the
hearse was nowhere in sight.

I apologized to the workers for my tardiness, and stepped to the side of
the open grave, where I saw the vault lid already in place. I assured
the workers I would not hold them up for long, but this was the proper
thing to do. The workers gathered around, still eating their lunch. I
poured out my Heart and soul.

As I preached the workers began to say 'Amen, 'Praise the Lord,' and
'Glory'! I preached, and I preached, like I'd never preached before from
Genesis all the way to Revelations. I closed the lengthy service with a
prayer and walked to my car.

As I was opening the door and taking off my coat, I overheard one of the
workers saying to another,

"I ain't never seen anything like that before, And I've been putting in
septic tanks for twenty years."

Did you know this? It could save your life.

Someone sent me this. It seems logical.
NEVER KNEW THIS BEFORE...
I wonder how many people know about this?

A 36
year old female had an accident several weeks ago and Totaled her car.
It
was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She
was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!

When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver

should know -
NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON. She had thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.

But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on and your car begins to hydro-plane--when your tires lose contact with the pavement, your
car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed and you
will take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.

The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor -
NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

Do you have integrity?

BE A PERSON WHO PRACTICES NON-SITUATIONAL INTEGRITY
by Denis Waitley

Be a Person Who Practices Non-Situational Integrity. Integrity, a standard of personal morality and ethics, is not relative to the situation you happen to find yourself in and doesn’t sell out to expediency. Its short supply is getting even shorter, but without it, leadership is a façade. Learning to see through exteriors is a critical development in the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Sadly, most people continue to be taken in by big talk and media popularity, flashy or bizarre looks, and expensive possessions. They move through most of their years convinced that the externals are what count, and are thus doomed to live shallow lives. Men and women who rely on their looks or status to feel good about themselves inevitably do everything they can to enhance the impression they make – and do correspondingly little to develop their inner value and personal growth. The paradox is that the people who try hardest to impress are often the least impressive. Puffing to appear powerful is an attempt to hide insecurity.

In the Roman Empires’ final corrupt years, status was conveyed by the number of carved statues of the gods displayed in people’s courtyards. As in every business, the Roman statue industry had good and bad sculptors and merchants. As the empire became ever more greedy and narcissistic, the bad got away with as much as they could. Sculptors became adept at using wax to hide cracks and chips in marble and most people couldn’t discern the difference in quality.

Statues began to weep or melt under the scrutiny of sunlight or heat in foyers. For statues of authentic fine quality, carved by reputable artists, people had to go to the artisan marketplace in the Roman Quad and look for booths with signs declaring sine cera, which translates in English to mean, without wax. We, too, look for the real thing in friends, products, and services. In people, we value sincerity, from the words, sine cera, more than almost any other virtue. We expect it from our leaders, which we are not getting in our political, media, business and sports’ heroes for the most part. We must demand it of ourselves.

Integrity that strengthens an inner value system is the real human bottom line. Commitment to a life of integrity in every situation demonstrates that your word is more valuable than a surety bond. It means you don’t base your decisions on being politically correct. You do what’s right, not fashionable. You know that truth is absolute, not a device for manipulating others. And you win in the long run, when the stakes are highest. If I were writing a single commandment for leadership it would be, “You shall conduct yourself in such a manner as to set an example worthy of imitation by your children and subordinates.” In simpler terms, if they shouldn’t be doing it, neither should you. I told my kids, “clean up your room,” and they inspected the condition of my garage. I told them that honesty was our family’s greatest virtue, and they commented on the radar detector I had installed in my car. When I told them about the vices of drinking and wild parties, they watched from the upstairs balcony, the way our guests behaved at our adult functions.

It’s too bad some of our political and business leaders don’t understand that “What you are speaks so loudly that no one really pays attention to what you say.” But it is even more true that if what you are matches what you say, your life will speak forcefully indeed.

It’s hardly a secret that learning ethical standards begins at home. A child’s first inklings of a sense of right and wrong come from almost imperceptible signals received long before he or she reaches the age of rational thought about morality. Maybe you’re asking yourself what kind of model you are for future generations, remembering that people are either honest or dishonest, that integrity is all or nothing, and that children can’t be fooled in such basic matters. They learn by example.

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,

'Oh excuse me please' was my reply.

He said, 'Please excuse me too;

I wasn't watching for you.'

We were very polite, this stranger and I.

We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,

How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,

My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.

'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.

I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

'While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,

You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.

He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,

you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.'

By this time, I felt very small,

And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;

'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.

'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'

He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.

I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'

I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;

I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'

He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.

I love you anyway.'

I said, 'Son, I love you too,

and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.'

FAMILY

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in

a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss

for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more

into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?

So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

DON'T FRET, BE STILL AND REST IN THE LORD

Prayer Summary for August 22

Notice: The following information was taught
and prayed about during Lynne Hammond's
and Ray Kelly's early morning prayer
session this morning.

Scripture Focus…

FRET NOT yourself because of evildoers,
neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright
or in right standing with God). (2)
For they shall soon be cut down like
the grass, and wither as the green herb.
(3) Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident)
in the Lord and do good; so shall you
dwell in the land and feed surely on
His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
(4) Delight yourself also in the Lord,
and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
(5) Commit your way to the Lord [roll and
repose each care of your load on Him];
trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident)
also in Him and He will bring it to pass.
(6) And He will make your uprightness
and right standing with God go forth as the light,
and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday.
(7) Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for
Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him;
fret not yourself because of him who
prospers in his way, because of the
man who brings wicked devices to pass.

(8) Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
fret not yourself--it tends only to evildoing.
(9) For evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who wait and hope and look
for the Lord [in the end] shall inherit the earth.
(10) For yet a little while, and the evildoers
will be no more; though you look with care
where they used to be, they will not be found.
(11) But the meek [in the end] shall inherit
the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
(12) The wicked plot against the
[uncompromisingly] righteous
(the upright in right standing with God);
they gnash at them with their teeth.
(13) The Lord laughs at [the wicked],
for He sees that their own day [of defeat]
is coming.
(Ps. 37:1-13 AMP)

Shared…

We have found that many churches across
America are praying for revival. Some
churches even have prayer all night long!
These truly are different days.

We must know who we are in Christ but
also who the adversary of the brethren is.
The enemy comes every day with thoughts
of doubt and discouragement. We are to
discern those thoughts because we also
hear the voice of the Good Shepherd.
We continually feed our spirits on who
we are, what we have been granted and
the authority that we walk in.

Belief
Few comprehend the primary thought
"belief." It has a twofold meaning,
fraught with deep significance. In it are
combined two old Anglo-Saxon words:
"be," to live or exist, and "lifan," which
conveys the thought of accordance.
Thus to believe means literally "to live
in accordance with" anything. We are
accustomed to consider "belief" as
simply mental acquiescence with
some particular truth. But its root
leads us to action; that which the
mind accepts, the will must obey.
We do not truly believe, therefore,
unless our conviction is manifested
in our life. Thus understood, "belief"
stands on a par with its great synonym
"faith," which in its deeper sense means
not only to have trust in a person but to
manifest that trust by practical committal.

Do we believe that God "hath quickened
us together with Christ and hath raised
us up together, and made us sit together
in heavenly places in Christ Jesus"
(Eph. 2:5-6)? If we do, our reaction
to it will be a fervent, "Lord, I accept
Thy gracious word. I believe that Thou
hast wrought for me. In humble faith
I do now take my seat in the heavenly
places in Christ Jesus at Thy right hand.
Teach me how to fulfill this sacred ministry,
how to exercise the authority which
Thou hast entrusted to me. Train me
day by day that I may attain to the full
stature of the perfect man in Christ,
so that in me Thy purpose of the ages
may be fulfilled. Amen."

If we are walking in the Spirit, our normal
life is in the heavenlies. To secure the
consciousness of this, there must be the
daily acceptance of the fact. Let us,
morning by morning, as one of our
first acts if worship, take out seat with
Christ (as suggested in the previous
paragraph) and return thanks to God
for all that it implies. Let us often
remind ourselves that we are seated
far above all the powers of the air,
and that they are in subjection to us.
As our faith learns to use the Name
and the Authority of Jesus, we shall
find the spiritual forces yielding obedience
in ways that will surprise us. As we
continue to abide closely in Him, our
prayers for the advancement of the
kingdom will become less and less
the uttering of petitions and will increasingly
manifest the exercise of a spiritual authority that recognizes no national boundaries,
but fearlessly binds the forces of darkness
in any part of the world.

Day by day we take our authority.
It is an act of worship unto the Father.
Where there is advancement of the kingdom,
the devil will contest it. So each day
we strengthen ourselves.
We believe the Word. We believe that God
has seated us at His right hand. By faith.

We will not be pulled off or distracted
because the Blood has been applied
and we will not be denied!
We exercise our authority in our lives,
in our churches and in our cities.

HOW TO REMOVE MOUNTAINS!

The Removal of Mountains

Serious obstacles often confront the servant of the Lord in his ministry for the bringing on of the kingdom. They seen as deep-rooted as the everlasting hills and as imposing in their bulk. They block the way to accomplishment of desired ends. They shut out the vision ahead. They balk the disheartened worker with their grim assurance of immobility. They seem to laugh at his discomfiture and to mock his prayers. And, as the months and years pass and no change is seen in their contour, he comes often to accept them as a necessary evil and to modify his plans accordingly. Such mountains of difficulty loom up on every foreign field; each home distract has its range with impassable serrated peaks towering ahead; few pastorates lack at least a “little hill.” They are too varied in their nature to particularize, but they are genuine and heartbreaking hindrances.

Concerning all such, the Master has assured His servants that they need not continue as obstacles to the progress of His work. The question of their removal is one of authority, the command of faith is the divine means of removing them out of the way: “Ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and it shall obey you.” The question involved is not that of an imposing faith, but that of an all sufficient Name. The worker has no power of himself to accomplish anything, but he is commissioned to wield the power of God. As he speaks to the mountain in the name of Christ, he puts his name on the dynamic force that controls the universe; heavenly energy is released and his behest is obeyed.

Authority is not prayer, though the worker who prays can alone exercise authority. Moses cried unto God at the Red Sea (Ex. 14:15), beseeching Him to work on behalf of His people, only to receive the strong reproof, “wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward, And as he lifted his face in amazed protest because the way ahead was blocked by the impassable waves, Jehovah spoke again: “Lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it (Ex. 14:16). As the impotent arm of the lawgiver held over the waters the symbol of the authority of God, there was immediate response. “And the children of Israel want into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters (which seemed at first a barrier impossible to overcome) were a wall (of protection) unto them on their right hand, and on their left” (Ex. 14:22).

God delights to delegate His power to men, when He can find believing and obedient servants to accept and exercise it. So when mountains rise in their way, the Lord commands His disciples to speak unto them and bid them depart into the sea. He gives no instruction to pray, although that is understood. There is essentially the same charge as was given to Moses: “You have asked Me to work; I have granted your request, but I choose to do the work through you; speak to the obstacle before you in My name, and it will obey.” As we obediently speak to the mountain before us, there may seem to be no immediate response. But as day by day we maintain the attitude of authority, knowing that we are commissioned to use the name of our Lord, there will come a trembling and a shaking and removing, and the mountain will slide from its base and disappear into the sea of forgetfulness.

God is endeavoring to train workers for a future and a mighty ministry of cooperation with His Son. He therefore has here and now conferred on them the privilege of sharing the authority with which Christ was endowed as the Son of Man. The burden of responsibility for its acceptance and its exercise lies with the individual believer.

This is the year of the open door and we believe that the word the Lord had given concerning this year is coming to pass! A few years ago, Jerry Savelle gave the following word and we are still claiming in for our city. This word was given May 14, 1989 in Minneapolis, MN:
“Breakthroughs are on the horizon. Breakthroughs,” saith the Lord of Grace.

”For in the field of technology there have been breakthroughs—in the field of medicine there have been breakthroughs, in the computer age there have been breakthroughs and now it’s time for a breakthrough in the Spirit.”

”It is time for you to go further than you have ever been before. It is time for you to experience My glory as you have never experienced before, for I have said that you go from faith to faith and from glory to glory. And it is time for a new dimension,” saith the Lord, “a breakthrough.”

”If breakthroughs can be experienced in the natural realm, why not in the Spirit? And this is the hour for breakthroughs. For I am going to enable you to experience a breakthrough in the Spirit realm where subduing kingdoms is concerned. You will begin to understand spiritual warfare as you have not known it in days past.”

”Some have seen but a glimpse, but in the days to come you will know it as a General. You will know it as a technician, you will know it as those who are experts in their field for I am raising up a people that shall be experts in spiritual warfare. I am raising up people that shall be technicians in spiritual warfare and they will not only know, but they will share and they will show and they will demonstrate and it shall be widespread and many kingdoms shall fall,” saith the Lord.

”For this is the day and the hour for breakthroughs. And your city is headed for a breakthrough. For I have heard the cry of those who are stirred in their hearts. I have heard the cry of those whose bones, whose spirit, whose soul are a fire and a flame. For it is time for the breakthrough. It is time. It is time that those who once knew Me who are now backslidden. It is time for them to return unto Me,” saith the Lord, “and soon you will begin to see many that left the faith shall return. And yea, there will be hundreds and even thousands,” saith the Lord, “who once were on the front lines, who have lost their zeal and lost their desire, they shall regain it and they shall return to Father’s house and they shall be returned to the front lines and engage in warfare.”

”For this is an hour,” saith God, “that there is a note of seriousness that I am causing to come upon the hearts of My people. Yes, it shall be fun and yes, yes it shall be glorious, but oh, the task that is ahead,” saith God, “will determine, will cause a determination, will demand a determination to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh,” saith the Lord.

”For I have declared in My Word that this is the time that Satan would dispatch an army of seducing, deceiving spirits and if possible, he would deceive even the elect. But stand firm in My Word,” saith the Lord, “and do not allow that which I have revealed to you in day’s past slip, but hold it dear unto you. Embrace it. Confess it. Believe it, with the same energy that you did when you first heard it.”

”For this is the hour,” saith the Lord, “that you owe it to yourself to be so established that you cannot be deceived, so deeply rooted in Me and in My Word that you cannot be shaken. And come what may, you are on the Word to stay. For this is the hour of breakthroughs. This is the hour when those who have been diligent and those who have been faithful and those who have said, ‘My God, I will not allow myself to slide, but I will stand on our Word forever more,’ breakthroughs are headed for those people,” saith the Lord.

”Mighty breakthroughs in every realm of their life, yea, spiritually, financially. Yes, they will experience breakthroughs,” saith the Lord, “and I am no respecter of persons. I am willing to give you, yes, even you, that begin tonight. I will cause things to be accelerated and I will give you a breakthrough. So it is time,” saith the Lord, “to set your face as flint and say, ‘I shall not be moved, I am on the Word to stay, I will not let go of that which I have learned and those things which I have been taught, I will apply and I will endeavor to learn more,’” saith the Lord.

”And as you do, you are headed for a breakthrough. For this is the hour of breakthroughs,” saith the Lord. “So rejoice in Me and know that you shall be refreshed and you shall be revived and all that you have lost shall be recovered and yea, I will even raise you up,” saith the Lord, “in these days to invade the enemy’s camp and take back everything that he has stolen. For this is the day of breakthroughs.”

”This is the day of breakthroughs. Yea, many of you who have been faithful in your giving and publishing the Gospel, breakthroughs,” saith the Lord “in your finances are on the horizon. Some of you will be entrusted with more funds than you have ever dreamed of,” saith God, “for I can trust you. The breakthrough is coming. This is the day of the breakthrough. And yea, there will be churches, entire congregations who will experience breakthroughs,” saith the Lord.

”There will be breakthroughs in the city,” saith God. “There will be, in days to come, those who have opposed you the greatest. Many of them will be converted and become your strongest supporters. For breakthroughs are coming,” saith the Lord. “And those who have fought you the hardest, many of them will realize soon that you cannot be shaken and that they are fighting a lost cause and they will drop their carnal weapons and pick up spiritual weapons and join you” saith the Lord.

”For this is the day of breakthroughs. And there will be those who have said it can’t be, it will never come and they will be made to look as fools,” saith the Lord. “For this is the day of breakthroughs. Say not in your heart, ‘It can never happen here.’ For this is where my Spirit is near. For the Lord of the Harvest has come your way and you will begin to see more souls come each and every day. For the breakthrough is yours,” saith the Lord of Grace.

”So get ready. You have just begun to run the race. And the race before you, you shall run fast and you shall run strong and you will not give up. You will run the daylong. For this is the hour when you will see My power and the hour that you will see My grace. So know in your heart that I am the Lord that has spoken to you. So get ready, I said it. It will come to pass. THIS IS THE DAY OF THE BREAKTHROUGH!”
We have been commissioned to command His will in our city, in our state, our nation and the world. We have the authority. Why? Because He has given it to us!

Thirst no more

Thirst No More

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink."

John 4:10-14

There were two reasons the Jebusites built a fortress on a ridge that eventually became Jerusalem: It was defendable and there was a water supply. A spring, located at the base of the ridge, provided an abundant and consistent supply of water. That spring (the Gihon Spring) still surges several times daily depending on the season.

There is nothing quite so luxurious in a hot and arid land as a spring that, seemingly miraculously and endlessly, sends thousands of gallons of pure water to the surface—an abundance of water, plenty for every need. Jesus used water from the Gihon Spring at the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem to send a different message of abundance. The priests would pour out pitchers of water while quoting from Isaiah 12:3: "Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation." Jesus stood and said, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." He was saying that, like a never-ending spring, waters of salvation flow from Him.

Have you drunk deeply from the spring of life named Jesus? There is no need ever to be spiritually thirsty with such a supply as Him.

Is it not wonderful news to believe that salvation lies outside ourselves?

Sequoyah’s syllabary:

Brock is spelled Quagi, qua pronounce Kwa means bird

Gi pronounce G is the color red

Quagi is bird red, or as the English version, which is reversed, red bird.

DNA has proven that our Aaron Brock is not the one descended from Rueben Brock of England, but was Red Bird a Chickamaugan, a Chief. He married Susan Carolina a full blood Cherokee from the Carolinas.

Dillon Asher became friends with Chief Red Bird along the Holston River when his father William Asher, who was an American soldier, was serving there. Dillon was about 14 at the time. In 1799, he built his home along the Red Bird River, in the middle of Chickamauga hunting grounds. Dillon and Red Bird has a personal treaty of peace because of their friendship and Red Bird’s people honored it. Dillon maintained the first tollgate in Pineville, Kentucky. Beside my great +3-grandmother, he also married Henrietta Bolling, a Powhatan descendant of Pocahontas.

I am sure their families have merged over the years, but in my case, it was my grandparents Delia Brice and William Matt Asher. My mother, Velva Asher was born at Redbird, in Bell County, Kentucky and moved to Knox County at age 10. I remember visiting Uncle Clinton Brice in Redbird as a child, and walking across a creek on a swinging bridge, perhaps it was the same creek my great (+4) grandfather Red Bird was…well, I will wait to explain that later.

Red Bird’s village was Taluegue (a version of Telliqua in the east and Tahlequah in the west). The village, which ran along the Warrior’s Path up Goose Creek to Otter Creek and down Stinking Creek, was located near Fogertown in Clay County, Kentucky. The county lines of Clay, Bell, and Knox have changed since that time.

During hunting season, Red Bird’s people would travel to the banks of Red Bird River, named for him, to hunt game, fish and gather plants for medicine and for eating.

On May 23, 1791 a petition by the white people lead to a Board of War that allowed the destruction of Chickamauga villages by burning their homes and destroying their food supply, stealing their horses and burning their crops.

The War Chiefs Bloody Fellow and Chuquilatague “Doublehead,” which was Red Bird’s uncle, signed the Treaty of Holston, which was a treaty of peace and friendship between the President and citizens of the U.S. and the Cherokee Nation, on July 2, 1791. However, most Cherokee did not like the Treaty and continued to fight for their homes as the white settlers continued to crossed the Cumberland Gap in droves. The Chickamauga who wanted peace and to stay in their homes adopted the white culture trying to survive. Others moved north to join the Shawnee or beyond the Mississippi and westward.

Between 1803 and 1805 the Treaties of Tellico were signed, each relinquished more and more of the Chickamauga’s land because of the demand for salt, which was abundant in these lands. In January of 1806, Red Bird and Doublehead relinquishing all of the salt rich land north of the Tennessee River by signing yet another treaty. His own people feeling he had betrayed them killed Doublehead. The ridge of his murder still bears his name Doublehead Gap in Wayne County, KY. There are other version of his death and the reasons for it, but I prefer this one.

In 1810 when the ‘War Hawks’ were elected to Congress, they canceled out all Chickamauga land claims in southern Kentucky, leaving the people orphans. Red Bird tried every possible way to keep the peace between his people and the U.S., but to no avail.

Reverend Gideon Blackburn a Presbyterian pastor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, opened a school on Cherokee land near Chattanooga, Tennessee. In the late summer of 1810, Blackburn agreed to offer protection and a "white man's" education to all Cherokee women and children from the Cumberland River valley.

Doublehead's daughter, Beloved Woman/War Woman "Cornblossom," sent her son Little Jake on horseback to spread the word that anyone seeking protection at the Blackburn school should meet in the great rock house behind Yahoo Falls when the moon was full and round. Once all the children were gathered, they were to wait for Cornblossom and travel to Rev. Blackburn’s Indian School at Sequatchie Valley in Tennessee.

Over 100 women and children were under the Falls when the white men, Hiram Big Tooth Gregory and his Indian fighters came. War Woman Standing Fern, who was married to Cornblossom’s oldest son War Chief Peter Troxell, and others were standing guard outside the cave. They fought to save the children, fearing not their own death, but were outnumbered and killed. The rest of the children, pregnant women, and old men that were in the cave suffered unspeakable acts and brutally murdered. Only a few children escaped alive.

When Cornblossom, the Beloved Woman, with her younger children, her son, War Chief Peter Troxell, Red Bird and their warriors arrived at Yahoo Falls, the massacre was almost over. Some of the Indian Fighters remained to make sure all were dead, “nits make lice,” they said, and that included unborn babies.

Beloved Woman and the warriors charged on the murderers that remained and killed them. War Chief Peter Troxell died in battle. Beloved woman, Red Bird’s cousin, died a few days later from her wounds.

In the fall of 1810 more than one hundred innocent Chickamauga men, women, and children were massacred at Yahoo Falls in Big South Fork in McCreary County, Kentucky, and were buried in a mass grave in the rock shelter behind the falls. Red Bird’s friend Jack wounded in the battle, and crippled for the remainder of his life.

Ywahoo, or Ya-hu-la, was a trader who lived in a stone house behind the Falls. The spirit people took him away. His ponies wore bells around their necks, which tinkled as he rode and echoed through the mountains along the Great Tellico Trail. Today that trail is US 27. A marker is placed there that reads;

After the massacre, the Chickamauga lands were sold for 10 cents an acre and were purchased by the white settlers who masterminded the Yahoo Falls massacre. With salt at $25.00 a barrel, they soon became rich.

Red Bird and his friend Jack settled on the west side of Red Bird River across from Jack’s Creek. They built a cabin there and lived in peace, hunting and fishing, selling their furs.

There are many version of this next part of the story, some say that cowardly white men attacked them in their sleep, but the one I remember from childhood is this. While Red Bird was out hunting or trapping for furs, and Jack was fishing alone, two white men attacked and brutally murdered him. They threw his body into the creek, at a place known as Willie’s Hole. The white men, (history records the names as John Livingston and Edward Miller) then lay in wait for Red Bird to return. Upon his return, they killed him, and cut off his head and threw him into the creek. John Gilbert, who discovered the bodies, retrieved them and buried them in a nearby rockshelter.

I am not sure if the creek I crossed on the swinging bridge as a child was the same creek my great (+4) grandfather Red Bird was thrown into with his friend or not, but I wish I had asked more questions as a child, and paid more attention.
